Veterans 3 Gun uses competitive shooting sports as our platform to peak the interest of many veterans that have served our Great Nation. For almost all veterans whether they served our military for 2-3 or 20+ years, we all can remember the best part about the military “Range Day!”

What are Competitive Shooting Sports?

A collective group of competitive and recreational sporting activities involving proficiency tests of accuracy, precision and speed, using various types of firearms; pistols, rifles or shotguns, used either individually or in combination, depending on the discipline (also called venues or matches) a team and their members chooses to participate in.

Different disciplines of shooting sports can be categorized by equipment, shooting distances, targets, time limits and degrees of athleticism involved.

We use competitive shooting sports to build camaraderie

These sports may involve both team and individual competition. A team event measures the overall performance of the team by summing the scores of the individual team members. For most venues members enjoy the camaraderie of competing with other veterans while being individually scored during the match.

How are this sports regulated?

Veterans 3 Gun team members that participate in competition shooting sports do so at designated permanent ranges, facilities or clubs. These approved ranges, facilities or clubs, are overseen by supervisory personnel,  Range Masters or Range Safety Officers (RSOs). These supervisory personnel are certified prior to any event and are responsible for ensuring that all firearm safety rules and competition rules are followed at all times.

Veterans 3 Gun Inc. does not directly host venues of competition. Team Leadership is responsible for finding venues and informing their team members about these matches, held in their team’s local area. Matches are hosted by official and/or certified ranges, facilities or clubs, that have their own personnel, responsible for conducting/hosting these competitions.

How active do members have to be?

For most of our veteran members, shooting sports are what they want to make of it. Some members emphasize the Action aspect, using their familiar firearms to develop self-defense skills and test equipment in realistic situations. Other members emphasize the Game element of the competition, using equipment they acknowledge lacks practical use but which improves their ability to generate high scores and low times at these competitive events.

Members decide what matches they want to participate in and how active they are within their team.

Why do we use competitive shooting sports as our platform?

Matches are highly social and new competitor friendly. At any match, there is a range of skill levels from beginner to advanced. Much like golf or bowling, competitive shooting sports are for the satisfaction it brings to veterans that come out to compete and enjoy the camaraderie of other veterans at these events.
